Difficulty Rating:
The Saguaro Vista Loop shows off the stunning sky-high saguaros in Tucson’s Sweetwater Preserve on a beginner and kid-friendly trail. Some of the cacti are staggeringly tall, and the mountains in the distance add to its charm. There are some sections of the route that have loose rocks, but otherwise, it’s a fairly straightforward adventure that we’d recommend for anyone.
Getting there
The trailhead for the Saguaro Vista Loop is past the end of N Tortolita Road.

Saguaro Vista Loop Description
The Saguaro Vista Loop is a gorgeous cactus-studded hike in Tucson’s always charming Sweetwater Preserve. With huge saguaros, interesting wildlife, and lighter crowds than some of the park’s other trails, this is a great adventure. It’s good for kids, beginners, and hikers of all skill levels. Expect moderate traffic.
Bring lots of water and try to time your hike outside of the heat of the day. Should you want to keep adventuring after this hike, there are lots of connecting trails you can choose to explore. Bring a trail map if you plan to wander.
From the trailhead, take Saguaro Vista Trail on your right. Stay right at the first two junctions and enjoy the namesake of the trail, the saguaros that cover this part of the desert. Where the loop splits, go right, staying left at the junction. Round the loop near the low peak to the south, then rejoin the main trail and retrace your steps back to the trailhead.
