Brothers and Sisters Hike Description
The Brother and Sisters Trail is a wonderful day hike. Pack up the whole family and head out into the Alderfer/Three Sisters Open Space Park to blow off some steam. This getaway encourages hikers to reconnect with nature and enjoy the scenery that the Colorado wilderness has to offer. Not only is this path a great summer expedition, but in the winter, you can simply swap your hiking boots for snowshoes. Note that in the summer months this area is abundant with rattlesnakes, so keep an eye and ear out for them as you venture.
Embark on your journey along the Brother and Sisters Hike from the west trailhead. From here, track the Bluebird Meadow Trail before merging onto the Silver Fox Trail. Hike this path to a vantage point of Elephant Butte and the outcroppings from here. Take the Ponderosa Trail before veering left onto the Sisters Trail. Notice boulderers on the rocks as you trek along the rocky mounds. Soon the route will guide you over the Three Sisters Rocks—revel in the views of the Front Range peaks from here. Follow the path down the outcropping before it curves you south to another intersection.
Here, keep right and you will be diverted onto the Ponderosa Trail and up to the Brother’s Lookout. Enjoy the vista and continue following the Ponderosa Pine Trail then merge onto the Homestead Trail at the junction. Hike around the loop, reconnecting with the Bluebird Meadow Trail, which will guide you back to the trailhead.
