Shortly after your departure from the trailhead, you will confront an intersection, stay left here. Ascend the trail, navigating a set of tightly wound switchbacks through the sparse pine forest. Climb up the path, and at the next intersection, keep right. Hike the increasingly exposed route to some scenic vantage points that overlook the arid terrain below.

After you are done reveling in the mountainous scenery, cross the road and continue along the Lookout Mountain Trail. At this point, you will pass the stunning Boettcher Mansion.
