For those outdoor enthusiasts searching for a walking trail in Northumberland that the entire family can enjoy, the Nelly’s Moss and Cragside Circular Walk is a great option featuring both historic architecture and wonderful woodland scenery.
Setting out from the car park, you will make your way to the south through the forest to arrive at the National Trust site of Cragside. This magnificent country house dates back to the Victorian-era and was constructed for the wealthy industrialist William Armstrong, 1st Baron Armstrong.
After passing by the impressive mansion, you will continue on to the south to head through the dense cover of the forest, relaxing in the peaceful woodland atmosphere as you loop back around to the north. Here, you will visit the scenic shores of Nelly’s Moss, before heading back past Cragside on the return to the car park.
