The Hethpool Linn and Yeavering Bell Walk is a great excursion in Northumberland that will lead you across the undulating terrain to visit historical sites and charming waterfalls. While out walking the trail, you will follow along the banks of College Burn to visit the cascading waters of Hethpool Linn, before traversing the undulating landscape to the east in order to explore the Iron Age hillfort at Yeavering Bell. This is a fun adventure that features several interesting highlights to keep you entertained throughout your walk.

Featuring rolling green hills, charming villages, ancient historical sites, and beautiful waterfalls, the Hethpool Linn and Yeavering Bell Walk really has it all. In addition to the fantastic sights, make sure to keep an eye out for the wild Cheviot goats that can be seen roaming free across the hilly landscape.
Setting out from the trailhead, you will make your way to the west in order to leave the village of Kirknewton behind, eventually arriving at the banks of College Burn. Following them to the southwest, you will wind through the valley along the lower slopes of The Bell, eventually reaching the cascading waters of Hethpool Linn.
After experiencing the natural beauty of the falls, you will make your way east across the undulating landscape, eventually climbing to slopes of Yeavering Bell for the chance to explore an Iron Age hillfort and take in the spectacular views. From here, you will head to the northwest, traversing the summit of St Gregory’s Hill omnm the return into the village where you started.
