Featuring several fascinating historical sites and a beautiful stretch of riverside terrain, the Lambley Viaduct and Featherstone Castle Walk is an amazing outdoor excursion that will appeal to a wide variety of walkers and outdoor enthusiasts.

Setting out from the car park, you will make your way to the southwest across a mixture of forested and farmland terrain, before arriving at the 19th Century, arched stone structure of the Lambley Viaduct. After a quick foray across the River South Tyne, you will make your way to the north along the water’s edge while enjoying the pleasant riverside setting.

Eventually, you will traverse the grounds of Featherstone Castle, taking some time to appreciate the wonderful architecture of the manor house that has origins dating back to the 11th Century, although much of the structure was added in later centuries, following a series of conflicts between the English and the Scots. After meeting up with the lane, you will turn right and follow it past the castle, climbing slightly uphill to arrive back at the car park where you began.
