Dirty Harry’s Balcony Description
Birdhouse Trail is the best way to reach Dirty Harry’s Balcony now, as the original trailhead has become very overgrown. If you’re headed to Dirty Harry’s Peak, we offer a route guide for that trail as well. Please take note that the road beyond the trailhead parking area is not accessible to the public, as it is used for State Patrol fire services training and poses a safety risk. If you find yourself crossing a bridge over the Snoqualmie River shortly after getting off I-90, turn around immediately and return to the parking area next to the highway.
The hike begins from Olallie State Park Far side Trailhead. Walk across the river on the road and turn right onto Dirty Harry’s Peak Trail. Gain elevation as you hike, with spur trails to viewpoints intersecting frequently before the switchbacks (feel free to head down to check them out: the Grit Scone, Overhaul, Sun Vista Slab, Interstate Park, etc.).
The route begins to switchback, and continues to do so to again about 820ft of elevation. After a straighter stretch, the intersection with the side trail to Dirty Harry’s Balcony will be on your right. Take this trail and reach the balcony, which has splendid views of Snoqualmie Pass.
When you’re ready, retrace your steps back to the trailhead.
