The Upper Wharfedale: Buckden and Yockenthwaite Walk is a fantastic activity in Yorkshire Dales National Park that will showcase the picturesque landscape of the area. While out on the walk, you will traverse scenic valleys and pass through charming villages, all while taking in views of nearby waterfalls. This route will require a bit of effort, but it is not one that you will want to miss out on!
Getting there
To reach the trailhead for the Upper Wharfedale: Buckden to Yockenthwaite Walk from Grassington, drive west on Station Road for 0.8mi and turn right onto B6160. Follow this for 9.6mi and turn right to enter the car park.

If taking in some stunning views of the Yorkshire Dales and several charming waterfalls is the aim of your next walk, then you should definitely consider checking out the Upper Wharfedale: Buckden and Yockenthwaite Walk. This trail will expose you to all of the above, while also passing through some lovely villages in the process.
There is a bit of an elevation gain along this undulating trail; however, it is a great way to experience the natural beauty and hilly terrain of the Yorkshire Dales. Be sure to wear some proper walking boots when setting out for this amazing adventure.
Setting out from the village of Buckden, you will head to the north and immediately begin to climb up the steep hillside. Reaching the northeastern portion of the route, you will take in views of the Cray Gill Waterfall and turn to the west to pass through the village of Cray. Traversing the undulating terrain along the hillside, you will pass over several streams and view several other waterfalls, eventually passing through the village of Yockenthwaite to meet up with the River Wharfe. From here, follow its banks to the southeast on the return to the trailhead.
