Ingleton Waterfalls Circular Walk

The Ingleton Waterfalls Circular Walk is a great family-friendly stroll; however, some of the terrain can be somewhat dangerous as there are many uneven steps and they can become quite slippery, so you need to mind your steps.

This path affords amazing views of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, stopping along the way at so many stunning waterfalls, a gorge and a quarry. This is a wonderful option for families who are looking for a short walk for their children and who are comfortable with a bit of rougher terrain in certain spots.

Beginning at the car park and the Tourist Information Office, follow the green signs that lead to the path and under the railway bridge. You will pass Bank Hall Close and take the first left going downhill, looking for a brown sign that reads “Waterfalls Walk”. When you reach the bottom, follow the road to the left and cross the River Doe by the guest house. You will continue to follow the road that runs over the River Twiss and turn right onto the road that passes the back and white cafe. You will see the Ingleton Nature Trail and follow the right hand path that reads Ingleton Waterfalls Walk.

You will see a small hut ahead, which is where you will pay your 8-pound fee to use this route. You will then come across a kissing gate and a map that shows you the layout of the falls. You will maneuver the kissing gate and follow the path along the river, and you will slowly begin to climb before you come across a metal gate. Follow the route through this gate and beware of the weather conditions as this area can be slippery. You will continue along the river to the tree-lined path by Swilla Glen. Move along to a footbridge, which you will cross and continue along the bank.

After a few moments, you will see a magnificent viewpoint that looks out over Pecca Falls. Take in these beautiful views, rejoin the path, and cross the river directly in front of the falls. Turn right as soon as you cross the footbridge and follow the path that leads up the side of the falls. When you reach the top of the waterfall, there will be a wooden gate for you to go through and a green hut that sells refreshments. Stop here if you’d like, and then continue the green sign marked “Waterfalls Walk” that also says “Thornley Force ⅓ mile, Breezley.” You will come out to the countryside and then come upon Thornton Force waterfall.

Climb up along the falls and cross the footbridge and through the field to the gate. Pass through this, turn right, and follow the green sign marked “Waterfalls Walk” and “Beezley”. Next, navigate a kissing gate and another gate, past the farm buildings and into a field through a gate. Follow the path to the Ingleton caves that are visible across the hillside. Head left, and you will be able to see amazing views of Ingleton in the distance. Next, cross the field and head towards the river at the bottom, where there is a road. Then, pass the small caravan and Beezley Farm. Following the path, head through the metal gates and then the wooden kissing gate, and you will come across Beezley Falls. While following the path and taking in this spectacular view, you will also come across Rival Falls as well as Snow Falls. Mind your footing here, as the track can be slippery.

As you move along, you will come to an area where the water opens up, and you will come to the gorge. Follow the footbridge here and take in the magnificent views of the gorge. Then, heading back to the main path, continue down past Snow Falls and over a footbridge where you will cross the river again. Follow the track into the trees and through a kissing gate. You can now see Ingleton in front of you, and you will see a quarry as you pass a metal gate. As you move along, you will come back to the car park where you began, as this is a circuit walk.
