Sherbrooke Lake Hike Description
While the Sherbrooke Lake Hike does feature a small amount of elevation gain through the forest, this is a fairly steady climb and is more than manageable for hikers of most skill levels, including families with young children. As mentioned above, this trail is accessible for almost the entire year, so if you are thinking of utilizing the trail outside of the summer season be prepared to wade through a fair bit of snow. During the summer, the turquoise waters of Sherbrooke Lake are a fantastic place to cool off with a refreshing swim.
Setting out from the small car park off the side of the Trans Canada Highway, take a few moments to enjoy the views of Wapta Lake before making your way to the northwest to follow the trail into the dense cover of the forest. Here, you will be able to relax in the tranquil woodland atmosphere as you gradually climb uphill through the trees toward Sherbrooke Lake. Upon arriving at the shores of the lake, you will be greeted with surreal views overlooking its turquoise waters and the dramatic peaks of the Rocky Mountains that characterize the rugged, yet beautiful landscape. Along the water’s edge, you will find a number of rocky beaches and areas where you can sit while enjoying the stunning views of Mount Ogden and Paget Peak. Once you’ve finished up at Sherbrooke Lake, turn back along the trail and retrace your steps back to the car park where you began your fun adventure in Yoho National Park.
