In the spring and summer months, this area is blanketed by vibrant wildflowers that make this walk feel like a fairytale.

Getting there

To get to the Exton and Buriton walk from Southampton, head north on Above Bar Street toward Brunswick Place/A3024. Follow A3024, A334 and Botley Road/B3035 to Beacon Hill Lane in Corhampton. In 16.0mi, turn left onto Beacon Hill Lane, and in 0.3mi, you will arrive at your destination.

Exton and Buriton walk Description

The Exton and Buriton walk boasts gorgeous views of the coast line, Butser Hill, and South Downs National Park. The walk is heart pumping with some elevation, so be prepared with comfortable walking shoes. Beginning at the car park, embark on your walk and stroll through Meonstoke, where the 13th Century Church of St Peter and St Paul stand at the entrance. Continuing on, you will walk along a stream that borders cattle fields and you will come across an old railway from which you can see views of Old Winchester Hill.

On a clear day, you can also see views of Isle of Wight and Chichester Harbour. Moving on, you will walk along the border of the Old Winchester Nature Reserve, where you will descend down to White Wool Farms and Meon Springs. As you follow the path, you will come to Butser Hill and take in views of the coastline. Follow the path until you reach the end as this is a one-way path.

Remember that you will have to organize a way back to your car as this is a one-way path!
