Yosemite Creek Trail Description

Hiking the Yosemite Creek Trail is an exciting experience. Wander along the gurgling waters of Yosemite Creek through lush meadowlands and mixed pine forests, all while being rewarded with epic views of the granite peaks that decorate the landscape. Though it is on the longer side, this amazing hike is well worth the effort, as it delivers magnificent views of Yosemite Valley and the surging cascades. If you plan to hike this route in the winter months, a pair of snowshoes is definitely a must! Note: the National Park charges an entrance fee, refer to the NPS website for the pricing guide.

Embark on your adventure along the Yosemite Creek Trail from the trailhead off Old Tioga Road. Setting out from the trailhead, begin hiking southwest past the campground and into the wilderness. The path will guide you near the waters of Yosemite Creek and into a little valley sparsely lined with mixed pines. Eventually, you will reach an intersection and keep left here to continue trekking south. As you wander, the route will weave between exposed meadows and a shaded section.

Eventually, the trail will begin to descend towards Yosemite Falls. From the trail’s end along the northern rim of the valley, you will be granted awe-inspiring views of Half Dome, North Dome, El Capitan, and more impressive geographic features. Revel in the grandeur of the cascades below, and when you are ready, retrace your footing along the path back to the trailhead.
