Hiking the Centennial Trail is a short, family-friendly experience in Yoho National Park that will lead you along the winding banks of the Kicking Horse River for some scenic views. While out on the trail, you will meander along the forested edge of the river and enjoy the breathtaking mountain scenery, with Mount Stephen and Cathedral Crags in plain view to the southeast. The trail is situated in between the Monarch and Kicking Horse campgrounds, making it ideal for families or beginner hikers that are staying in the area for a few days.
Getting there
To access the trailhead for the Centennial Trail from Field, head to the northeast on BC-1 for 2.2mi and make a left turn onto Yoho Valley Roan. In 0.8mi, you will find the trailhead on the left side of the road.

Centennial Trail Description
Although it is only a short route, the Centennial Trail is a great experience in Yoho National Park for beginner hikers or families with young children that are after some beautiful views without much in the way of hard work. The trail sets out from the side of the road and leads you along the banks of the Kicking Horse River, following it to the east while providing some amazing views of nearby mountain peaks to the southeast. Eventually, you will cross over the rushing water of the river and arrive at the Kicking Horse Campground, at which point you will retrace your steps and relive the natural beauty of the trail all over again.
