Trout Lake Loop Description

The Trout Lake Trail is a great hike for the whole family. This route begins with a steep incline up to the lake. This incline is doable for most folks but is not wheelchair accessible or stroller friendly. If you struggle with uphill mobility or have knee issues, we recommend bringing along a set of hiking poles to aid your ascent and save your joints some strain on the way back down.

With river otters playing on the shore and fish jumping in the water, Trout Lake is a gorgeous little sanctuary in the Wyoming Wilderness. This lake is the perfect place for a family picnic or an evening stroll. Although the Trout Lake trail is short, there is so much to discover in the area, and you really can spend the whole day playing and exploring in the Trout Lake area.

To hike the Trout Lake Loop, begin at the Trout Lake Trailhead and follow the path west to a divide. This divide marks the beginning and end of the loop. Make your way counterclockwise around the lake and take your time to explore flora and fauna around the lakeshore.

When you find yourself back at the beginning of the loop, simply retrace your steps back to the Trout Lake Trailhead where you began.
