Trout Lake and Buck Lake Trail

The Trout Lake and Buck Lake Trail is a gorgeous route in Yellowstone National Park. Though the trail to Trout Lake is well established and well maintained, the trail to Buck Lake can get overgrown and may require some creative route-finding. We recommend downloading a map before hitting the trails if you plan a stop at both lakes. Both lakes, however, are beautiful. Crystal clear water and jumping fish will greet you as you emerge from the forested path onto the lakeshore. This trail truly is a lovely way to spend an afternoon or evening enjoying the beauty of nature with those you love.

Beginning at the Trout Lake Trailhead, follow the path westward to Trout Lake. Take a lap around the lake, then make your way northeast to Buck Lake. Circle around Buck Lake and enjoy your time on the shoreline before heading back to the Trout Lake Trailhead, where you began.
