Rescue Creek Trail Description
The Rescue Creek Trail is a gorgeous point-to-point hike that crosses the Wyoming Montana border. This trail does not have a lot of shade on it, so lather on the sunscreen, wear a good sunhat and bring more water than you think you’ll need. The Rescue Creek Trail is moderately challenging, but this route is still appropriate for families with older children. Whether hiking this route as a day hike or extending it into an overnight backpacking trip, the Rescue Creek Trail is a lovely place to explore Yellowstone with loved ones.
Beginning at the Blacktail Trailhead, follow the Blacktail Deer Creek Trail north for 0.8mi to a divide. At this divide, take the path on your left. Follow this path northwest along Rescue Creek all the way to the trail’s end at the Rescue Creek Trailhead.
If you still have energy at the end of your hike, check out the Mammoth Terraces: Upper Terrace Loop Trail nearby to see some cool geothermal features before heading home.
