Grizzly Lake Trail Description
The Grizzly Lake Trail is a moderately challenging hiking and backpacking route in the northeastern quadrant of Yellowstone National Park. This trail travels through an old burn area with not a whole lot of shade. Be sure to lather on the sunscreen, wear a good sunhat, and bring lots of water for everyone in your hiking party. Grizzly Lake itself is a quiet, hidden gem in Yellowstone. This lake can be a great spot for fishing, picnicking, and simply relaxing with the whole family. In the summertime, this area is aburst with an incredible display of wildflowers.
Beginning at the Grizzly Lake Trailhead on Grand Loop Road, follow the path northeast to Grizzly Lake. From Grizzly Lake, continue north along Straight Creek and Winter Creek to a divide in the trail. This divide is a good place to turn back and retrace your steps to the trailhead where you began.
If you are not done for the day after your hike to Grizzly Lake, there is lots more to explore in this area of Yellowstone. For a short hike with some incredible geothermal activity, check out the Norris Geyser Basin Trail nearby.
