Getting there

From the Old Faithful Visitor Center, follow Grand Loop Road north for 2.0mi to the Biscuit Basin Trailhead on the left side of the road. The Continental Divide Trail to Observation Point and Upper Geyser Hill begins here.

Continental Divide Trail to Observation Point and Upper Geyser Hill Description

The Continental Divide Trail to Observation Point and Upper Geyser Hill is an excellent hike in Yellowstone National Park. This trail does have some steep sections. Proper hiking footwear is essential on this route, and we strongly recommend bringing along a set of hiking poles, especially if you have knee pain or joint issues. This route passes by two spectacular geysers in the Upper Geyser Basin and is well worth a stop on your visit to Yellowstone National Park.

Beginning at the Biscuit Basin Trailhead, follow the path southeast along the Firehole River. At the North Triplet Geyser, take the path on your right to circle around the Old Faithful geyser and Observation Point.

Once you make your way back to the North Triplet Geyser, simply retrace your steps to the Biscuit Basin Trailhead, where you began.
