From the Old Faithful Visitors Center, head north up Grand Loop Road for 6.8mi then take a right onto Firehole Lake Drive. Park at the parking lot 2.3mi along Firehole Lake Drive. The Black Warrior Lake and Firehole Lake Trail begins here.

The Black Warrior Lake and Firehole Lake Trail is a great way to see some geothermal features without battling crowds of tourists. Walking on this boardwalk, it looks and feels as though someone has turned on a fog machine. Steam rising from the geothermal basin creates a spooky and otherworldly atmosphere. If you love the geothermal wonders of Yellowstone National Park, a quick stop at this trail is definitely worth it.

To hike the Black Warrior Lake and Firehole Lake Trail, begin at the parking lot and follow the path east to check out the Young Hopeful Geyser, Firehole Lake, and the Artesia Geyser, then head west to circle around Black Warrior Lake before returning to the parking lot.

If you are looking for more geothermal features in the area, check out the Lower Geyser Basin just up the road.
