Difficulty Rating:
The O Circuit: Serón Sector is a fantastic adventure in its own right, but also serves as the initial stage of the world renowned O Circuit in Chile’s Torres del Paine National Park. While out on the trail, you will hike parallel to the impressive Río Paine, enjoying stunning views overlooking the river and surrounding mountainous terrain. This is a one-way trail, so if you are not planning to complete the entire O Circuit or camp at the Serón campsite you will need to double the overall distance to account for the return leg of the hike.
Getting there
The starting point for the O Circuit: Serón Sector can be found at the Refugio Torre Central in Torres del Paine National Park.

O Circuit: Serón Sector Trail Description
A bucket list adventure for many travel and outdoor enthusiasts, the O Circuit is an incredible journey that will see you traverse over 74.6mi of rugged terrain in Chilean Patagonia. The O Circuit: Serón Sector is the initial stage of this route, taking you along the winding banks of the Río Paine to the Serón campsite.
While you will experience some elevation gain throughout the hike, this initial stage is by far the easiest, allowing you to ease into the rigors of the O Circuit. Stunning mountain views and the wild landscape of Chilean Patagonia await on this exceptional hike in Torres del Paine National Park.
Setting out from the trailhead next to the Refugio Torre Central, you will follow the footpath a short distance to the southwest and quickly arrive at the edge of a road. Turning right here, follow the road as it winds to the north and eventually arrives at a junction. Directly across the junction to the northeast you will find the Circuito W trail; follow this to continue on your way.
Making your way north, you will begin climbing uphill along the forested lower slope of the mountains, eventually gaining a beautiful vantage point overlooking the winding Río Paine. Continuing on to the north, you will begin a gradual descent that will bring you to the edge of the river.
As you hike alongside the water’s edge, take some time to appreciate the grandeur of the mountains and the power of the rushing river, eventually arriving at the endpoint of your hike at the Serón campsite. For those continuing along the entirety of the route, the next portion is the O Circuit: Trek to Lake Dickson.
