Red Creek Trail Description
The Red Creek Trail is a route not often travelled despite its pretty views and secluded feel. This hike enjoys a canopy of trees overhead that provide shade, with plenty of birds to watch and other wildlife wandering about. The camping sites near the end of the trail make backpacking a nice option.
You’ll need to watch for motorized traffic on this route as it’s a signed 4WD trail frequented by ATVs and side by sides. There will also likely be free-roaming cows around the trail, but they generally keep to themselves.
From the trailhead, head out along the path. Where it meets up with Red Creek, you’ll turn right to dip into the canyon. The terrain is mostly rocky with a few sandy sections as you wander alongside the creek underneath the trees. The route continues out of the canyon to the junction with the Verde River Trail, where it terminates shortly after crossing the Verde River at a Y-junction.
