Folger Peak Hike Description
Immerse yourself in the alpine terrain along the Folger Peak Hike. This wonderful adventure will get your heart rate up without over-exhausting you! Challenge yourself as you ascend the vertiginous terrain to the summit of the Sierra Nevada summit. Be sure to wear microspikes or snowshoes when hiking in the late fall and winter months. Additionally, we suggest dressing in layers as the exposed, high-altitude trail conditions can turn on a dime! Lastly, this path demands some scrambling, so get ready to do some rock climbing.
Setting out from the trailhead, the Folger Peak Trail will guide you west up the rocky terrain along the southern slope of the looming peak. Mind your footing on the uneven terrain, and you will soon summit the timberline. Using the trail GPS or your best judgment, you will be diverted north up the exposed terrain through the tundra decorated with wildflowers in the summer months.
Eventually, you will reach the false summit; if you are content, you can stay here. If not, continue north up to the summit of Folger Peak. Revel in the sweeping vistas of the soaring crests and the distant views of the dramatic snow-capped Sierra Nevada summits. Retrace your footing along the path back to the trailhead when you are ready.
