Burst Rock Hike Description

Seeking a short but scenic adventure? If so, then you have come to the right place. The Burst Rock Trail is a lovely nature walk through the Stanislaus National Forest that offers wonderful views of the High Sierra from atop the summit. Note much of the terrain is exposed, so make sure you wear sun protection in the summer months and check the forecast prior to your trek! Additionally, the path is rocky and uneven, so be sure to wear a sturdy pair of footwear—your ankles will thank you!

Embark on your adventure along the Burst Rock Hike from the Gianelli Trailhead. From here, you will begin hiking northeast along the Gianelli Trail. Setting out from the trailhead, the route will immediately climb up the path sparsely lined with towering conifers. Demanding the navigation of a switchback, you will ultimately reach the summit of Burst Rock.

From atop the peak, you will be granted awe-inspiring vistas of the granite oasis. Revel in the beauty and grandeur of the mountainous landscape, and when you are ready, retrace your footing back to the trailhead.
