Petworth Park Circular walk Description
The Petworth Park Circular walk is a lovely stroll that boasts views of South Downs National Park and North Downs. The area is full of old spooky trees that have survived for over 1000 years and survived the 1987 hurricane in Southern England. You can also take in beautiful views of Petworth Lake along this path. This area can get muddy during wetter seasons, especially after a wavy rainfall, so make sure you wear appropriate footwear.
Go back in time on this amazing walk through the woodlands and experience nature. Deer are very active in this area, so you are likely to spot one or two along your stroll. Explore the old trees that make up this area’s forest and head to Upperton Folly to take in views of the deer park below.
Beginning at the car park at Petworth House, follow the path where you will begin to climb a hill. Notice the trees appearing with large hollow trunks that are big enough for you to climb in and boast long giant-like arms. Continue walking along the path, and you will begin walking up a steep hill. From the top, you will see incredible views that span across the South Downs as well as the North Downs.
As you continue, you will come across Upperton Folly, which showcases amazing views over the deer park. As you move on, you will come across views of Petworth House along with Upper Pond, which is a large lake. Take in these views and continue along to a gate that will lead you to the ornamental gardens. After exploring the garden, you will find a place that feels like the edge of the world, take in the views and make your way along the path that will lead you back to the car park where you began.
