The Aber Falls Lollipop Walk is one of the many routes for enjoying these beautiful waterfalls. A clear path leads south from the Aber Falls car parks towards the main site, with a handful of vantage points for admiring the river as it tumbles over the cliffs. A separate path on your return provides a bit of height for newly found views before linking up with the main path to bring you back to the start.

Getting there

To get to the Aber Falls Lollipop Walk, start from the village of Abergwyngregyn, reachable along the A55. Near the village center, you’ll see a sign for the Aber Falls pointing down a road leading southeast (away from the coast). Follow this road for one kilometre until you reach one of the two Aber Falls car parks. Note that these get very busy, especially on weekends. If you can’t find space, you’ll have to turn back and park in the village.

Aber Falls Lollipop Walk Description

This Aber Falls route is a variation on the circular walk, listed on our website in more detail. From the first car park, set off on a path directly south, turning left and crossing a footbridge before passing through a gate onto a wider path. If starting from the second car park, start by going back the way you came, turn left and cross a footbridge, then stay right to link up with the wider path. Follow this path south, going right at the fork and passing by a visitor centre. As you near the falls, you’ll come across some unearthed Bronze Age huts—an interesting historical touch to the walk.

Soon after that is the Aber Falls themselves. They’re most impressive after a period of rain, when the tumbling river blasts out a spray that travels quite a distance! Take care on the surrounding rocks, which can be quite slippery. When you’re ready to return, take a path that branches off on your right, ascending to provide a view of the valley floor. Follow this path back north, as it eventually bends to the left and joins the main path that you came in on. Stroll along this back to your car park to complete the walk.
