The Lower Chimney Rock Loop is a 1.4mi hike that takes you all the way around Lower Chimney Rock above northwest Sedona. It’s a fast little hike, but you can add an extension to the top of the rock if you want more of a challenge. This is a very scenic trail and is great to pair with other hikes in the area. Expect heavy traffic on this route- arriving early is recommended.

Lower Chimney Rock Loop Description
Lower Chimney Rock sits above northwestern Sedona, and this trail takes you all of the way around this tiny mountain. This is a great quick win if you want a fast hike that still offers pleasant views. This trail can also be extended using the many interconnecting trails in the area. Expect heavy traffic; getting to the Thunder Mountain Trailhead early is recommended.
From the trailhead, begin your hike around Little Chimney Rock. You’ll head up to where the trail splits and turn left. There’s a trail that leads up the rock if you want a viewpoint, although it’s a bit rocky and requires some climbing. Continue your loop around the south side of the rock, returning to the trailhead. You can easily add on the Chimney Rock Pass Loop for a longer adventure if you’d like.
