The Little Horse, Hog Heaven, and Mystic Loop is a 5.5mi loop hike that gets you right up close to unique rock formations. This trail takes you around East and West Twin Butte with a view of Gibraltar Rock. You’ll stop by the Chicken Point Viewpoint, a great spot for photos. It’s a very scenic route that can be enjoyed by almost all skill levels and ages. Expect moderate traffic on this route.

Little Horse, Hog Heaven, and Mystic Loop Description
The Little Horse, Hog Heaven, and Mystic Loop packs big views into a 5.5mi trail. This hike takes you right through the region’s iconic red rock formations and to an impressive viewpoint at Chicken Point. The views are great and the route is customizable with lots of connecting trails.
We recommend taking a GPS track on this hike if you’re unfamiliar with the area since there are lots of junctions and side trails.
The loop can be started at the Little Horse Trailhead, on Chapel Road, or in the residential area southwest of the Twin Buttes. From the trailhead, head across Chapel Road towards West Twin Butte. You’ll loop around the butte, heading underneath Elephant Rock. Keep going around East Twin Butte to Chicken Point, a great place to pause and take in the view. From here, continue down Little Horse and back up to the trailhead.
