Herkenham Trail Description
The Herkenham Trail runs along a butte on the far west side of Sedona, providing nice views of Schuerman Mountain and Table Top Mountain. This is a moderate trail that can be enjoyed by hikers, runners, and mountain bikers. It can also be used to connect to Old Post Trail.
Make sure you bring enough water for this route. It’s quite exposed to the elements and Sedona can be scorchingly hot between April and October.
From the trailhead, take the route that heads southeast alongside the road for the first few steps. You’ll eventually pull away from the road and trek out along the butte. Take a moment to look in all directions as you go. The route has no junctions to consider until its ends, where it splits into three different arms of Old Post Trail. If you’re just here for the Herkenham and not continuing any further, turn back and retrace your steps
