If you want to see Cathedral Rock up close but don’t want to climb it, the Cathedral Rock to Easy Breezy Loop is a good alternative. This hike is short and sweet, but it adds a little extra distance and takes you back to the trailhead on a different route so you’re not heading right to the rock and back. The trail is only 0.7mi long and is suitable for all skill levels.

Cathedral Rock to Easy Breezy Loop Description
If you want to make the trip out to Cathedral Rock but you want a little more variety than an out and back trail provides, try the Cathedral Rock to Easy Breezy Loop. This short route takes you right out to the base of the rock and then back to the trailhead via a different route. This is a short, easy hike suitable for all skill levels.
This route doesn’t take you up the rock at all. If you want to climb partway up Cathedral Rock, check out our Cathedral Rock Trail route guide. Arrive at this trailhead as early as you can! There are two small lots and both tend to be full by about 8 AM.
From the trailhead, take Cathedral Rock Trail ahead to the base of the rock. Spend some time admiring Sedona’s most iconic rock formation, snapping photos and marvelling at the ochre hue. When you’re ready, turn around and take Templeton Trail on your right to the left turn onto Easy Breezy Trail. Follow this to return to the trailhead.
