Turquoise Lakes Hike Description
The Turquoise Lakes Trail presents the ideal opportunity to explore all that the alpine terrain has to offer. Travel through sweets smelling evergreen forests, golden aspen groves, along a gurgling creek, and up to the shimmering blue-hued lakes. This trek is lengthy, so consider packing your overnight gear and camp at the halfway mark, nestled beneath the treeline. Be sure to bring along plenty of water and wear layers as insurance against changing weather conditions! When venturing this route in the winter and late fall, be sure to wear microspikes to navigate the likely icy and snow-cloaked terrain.
Begin your journey along the Turquoise Lakes Trail from the Elk Track Road. From here, follow the road south, hooking onto the Turquoise Lakes Trail at the route’s end. Follow this scenic path through the woodlands interspersed with meadows that reveal wonderful sights of the snow-capped peaks. Eventually, you will pass Beaver Lake, which is a great place to stop and rest. The final segment of the trek will guide you through evergreens and aspens before arriving at the glittering lakes.
Explore the lakeshores of the postcard-worthy alpine lakes and revel in the vistas of the looming peaks. Enjoy the sights and when you are ready, retrace your footing along the path all the way back to the trailhead.
