Saint Kevin Lake Hike Description
Immerse yourself in a quintessential alpine adventure along the Saint Kevin Lake Hike. Traveling through woodlands and exposed meadowlands, you will be granted views of the snow-dusted Colorado 14ers as you ascend to the shimmering lake. Though open year-round, this trek is best in the summer months when the vegetation is lush and the trail is lined with vibrant wildflowers. Truly one of the most scenic expeditions in the area, the trail has remained relatively unknown and isolated, so let’s just keep this hike between us, shall we?
Embark on your journey along the Saint Kevin Hike from the Colorado Trail Segment 9 Trailhead. From here, track northeast through the pine forest. The path up to the lake is rocky in areas, so mind your footing. Continue up the winding path, weaving between exposed meadowlands and tree shade to eventually confront a junction. Keep right here and take a left at the next intersection. This route is easier to navigate, as it is less washed out than the first path up to the lake.
Soon you will arrive at the edge of the lake. Take in the breathtaking scenery and revel in the hue of the crystal-clear waters. Bounded by craggy, often snow-covered cliffs, this view is a stereotypical high country scene. Dip your tired feet in the inviting, but frigid waters of Saint Kevin Lake before commencing your descent. When you are ready, retrace your footing along the path back to the trailhead.
