Granite Lakes Hike Description

Put your navigational skills to the test as you wander the Granite Lakes Hike. Immerse yourself in the dense woodlands and let the fresh air fill your lungs as you escape the hustle and bustle of the real world. Overgrown and poorly marked in areas, the primitive nature of this route provides an amazing ambiance and makes you feel as though you are discovering these hidden lakes for the first time. If you are seeking an isolated and tranquil experience, then you have found the ideal hike – just make sure to bring along the trail GPS!

Embark on your adventure along the Granite Lakes Trail from the trailhead off County Road 4F. From here, track southeast along the Granite Lakes Trail. This path will guide hikers along the banks of the Fryingpan River. Enjoy the sound of the rushing water and follow the path until you confront an intersection. Veer right here and you will begin a more intense climb up to the lakes. Mind your footing on the rocky terrain and keep an eye out for wildlife as you progress.

Now trekking along Granite Creek, you will notice a few small cascades before arriving at the first lake. Enjoy the scenery of the lake and take in the views of the water encircled by towering pines, before continuing your adventure up to the final lake. Revel in the sight of the shimmering lakes and then when you are ready, retrace your footing along the path back to the trailhead.
