The Pear Lake Trail is a wonderful day hike in the Colorado wilderness. Hike through dense woodlands, past granite outcroppings, along babbling streams and up to not one, but two alpine lakes! What more could you ask for? From the lakes enjoy expansive vistas of the surrounding snow-capped peaks.

Pear Lake Trail Description

The Pear Lake Trail warrants plenty of photos. This picturesque excursion exhibits all the best attributes of the Colorado wilderness. Revel in the diversity of the typographies as you get your daily steps in. Undeniably scenic, this route is strenuous, make sure you are prepared for a lengthy hike and pack plenty of food and water. Situated in the high country, ensure you check the forecast prior to your adventure to mitigate getting caught in inclement weather. Wear plenty of layers, and most importantly, make sure your camera is charged. Located within the Rocky Mountain National Park (RMNP), visitors are required to purchase a park pass.

Embark on your adventure along the Pear Lake Trail from the Finch Lake Trailhead. From here, the Finch Lake Cutoff Trail tracks southeast up a rocky ridge before diverting west. Ascend the forested terrain and at the Allenspark intersection, the path will merge into the Finch Lake- Pear Lake Trail. Intersecting with alpine streams, the route will eventually guide you to Finch Lake. Enjoy the quaint lake and its alpine views. Continue along the path, crossing over Cony Creek, and you will shortly arrive at Pear Lake.

Revel in the stunning scenery of the shimmering lake which sits in the foreground of the mountainous landscape. Enjoy the sights, and when you are ready, retrace your steps all the way back to the trailhead.
