Difficulty Rating:
At 0.4mi overall length, the Peveril Castle Walk isn’t so much a long-distance journey as it is a journey back in time. The switchback path will lead you uphill to the site of a Norman Castle that is still in fairly decent condition considering it dates to the 11th Century. The Castle also overlooks Cave Dale and the Hope Valley, which makes it a great spot for sightseeing in addition to the historical interests. Although this is an easy route, the trail does feature some steps that could make travel difficult for families with pushchairs.
Getting there
To reach the trailhead for the Peveril Castle Walk from Hope, head west on Castleton Road/A6187 for 1.5mi and continue straight onto Back Street.
