Litton Mill and Cressbrook Circular Trail Description
The Litton Mill and Cressbrook Circular Walk passes through several areas featuring the sloped terrain that can frequently become muddy in wet weather. Make sure to wear proper walking/waterproof footwear to stay comfortable on the trail. There are also a few steep stretches that will require some uphill walking. Toilet facilities can be found near the car park where you begin the walk.
Setting out from the car park, make your way south along the road and follow closely alongside Brook Head until the trail bends to the east and you meet up with the banks of the River Wye. Follow this east as you make your way past the Litton Mill and into the serene woodland atmosphere of the Cressbrook Dale. Continue along the river until you come to the Cressbrook Mill—at which point you will need to turn right at the road.
Head north along the road until you pass by the Ravensdale cottages, and the route transitions into a proper trail. Follow this north through Cressbrook Dale as you navigate the forested paths and eventually enter into the Derbyshire Dales National Nature Reserve. From here, go west to climb uphill and make your way into the village of Litton.
After passing through the charming village, follow along the road to the southwest to skirt around the vast stretches of farmland and arrive back at the trailhead where you began your walk.
