Knightwood Oak Walk Description

This is a very straightforward walk that needs little in the way of navigation skills. From the car park, follow a footpath which crosses the road. On the other side, it forks – take the path on the left and continue onwards. This curves from left to right as you walk deeper into the woods.

The path brings you face-to-face with the Knightwood Oak, perhaps the most famous oak tree in the entire New Forest National Park. The tree is over 500 years old, measuring nearly 25ft around – and still growing! The footpath extends to allow a walk all the way around the mighty tree, an information panel explaining its history. When you’re ready to depart, take the other of the two paths, which should lead in a southwest direction. Turn right at the junction and walk back to the road, crossing over to return to the car park.
