Deerleap Enclosure Circular Walk Description
Start your Deerleap Enclosure walk by heading down the lane from the car park, with the pub on your left. Pass through a forest gate and continue east, the gravel track leading to the Ranger’s Cottage. Turn right through the gate, and walk south along the forest track. Stay along this main path, which leads all the way to the bottom of the Deerleap Enclosure. You should be within the enclosure the whole time, with the railway tracks running roughly parallel on your right as the path bends to the southeast.
Approaching the southern end of Deerleap, you’ll come to a gate that leads into the neighbouring Longdown Enclosure. Do not go through this gate – instead, follow the main path on a sharp turn to the left as it heads back to the north. At the second intersection of paths, turn left and head northwest through the woods. Roughly a kilometre later, you’ll arrive at a T-junction which you’ll recognize as the original path you came in on. Turn right to head back to the Ranger’s Cottage, then left through the gate onto the gravel track. Follow this back to the car park to wrap up the walk.
