Timothy Lake Loop Hike Description

Featuring beautiful views, a relaxing woodland setting, and a plentiful amount of campgrounds, the Timothy Lake Loop Hike is a great option to explore if you are planning to camp in Mount Hood National Forest.

Setting out from the trailhead, you will make your way to the south across the Timothy Lake Spillway, enjoying views that stretch out across the water on your left. From the other end of the dam, you will keep left along the water’s edge, passing by the Pine View, Hood View, Gone Creek, and Oak Fork campgrounds.

After passing by this last campground, you will cross over the banks of Oak Grove Fork and hike along the PCT as it runs parallel to the stream. Eventually, you will arrive at the edge of Skyline Road and follow the Old 1916 Trail #537 north through a vast swathe of forest.

After a great deal of hiking, you will cross over the Clackamas River, keeping left at the fork in order to follow along the western shore of Timothy Lake. Here, you will pass by the North Arm, Meditation Point, and Timothy Lake campgrounds, before arriving back at the trailhead where you began your hike.
