Lost Lake Butte Trail Description

Whether you are planning to spend a few days in the area at the Lost Lake Resort or are simply after a beautifully scenic hike that isn’t overly challenging, the Lost Lake Butte Trail is the perfect route to explore in Mount Hood National Forest.

Setting out from the trailhead, you will make your way south along the road for a short distance to arrive at a junction with Lost Lake Campground Road. Crossing directly over the T-intersection, you will pick up the trail and follow it east east through the tree cover, crossing over Jones Creek Road to pick up the path once again.

From here, the trail will continue leading you east through the forest and up the gradual slopes of Lost Lake Butte. At the only junction, you will pass straight through and continue climbing uphill, before traversing a series of switchbacks on the way to the summit viewpoint.

Once you are at the top, you will be met with incredible views overlooking the surrounding Oregon landscape, including the imposing Mount Hood to the southeast. Once you have finished reveling in the views, backtrack along the same route in order to return to the trailhead where you began your adventure.
