Mount Lowe Trail

Leading adventurers along the mountainside of the San Luis Obispo Range, the Mount Lowe Hike offers incredible views of the encompassing mountains and the valley below. Rewarded tired explorers for their efforts with wonderful scenery, this route attracts plenty of visitors, so expect to share the trail. Be mindful of bikers passing by as you climb, and be sure to wear a sturdy pair of footwear to protect your ankles on the uneven terrain. Note much of the path is exposed, so pack plenty of water and wear sun protection.

Setting out from the trailhead, adventurers will be guided southeast along Mount Lowe Road. This wonderful trail is easy to follow, leading you up the fire road. As you climb, the path will gently zigzag along the mountainside, exposing wonderful vistas of the encompassing landscape. Be mindful of bikers passing by and take the time to admire the beautiful scenery– don’t forget to keep an eye out for cows as you progress!

You will ultimately reach the summit of Mount Lowe, which boasts awe-inspiring views of the San Luis Obispo Range and the valley below. After reveling in the dramatic landscape, retrace your footing back down the path to the trailhead.
