Six Wainwright Fells Walk Description

As the name implies, the Six Wainwright Fells Walk is a popular route in the Lake District because it takes you to the summit of six notable peaks in the area, as well as several other mountains along the way for some breathtaking views across the undulating landscape. The trail will take you from the valley floor close to Crummock Water on an uphill climb along some steep terrain to reach the summit viewpoint atop Whiteside. From here, you will traverse the ridge to the east, eventually reaching the summit of Hopegill Head for some nice views of the surrounding fells. At this point, you will head to the south, briefly descending the hillside before climbing up once again to the top of Grasmoor, where you will have a great sightline across the valley with Crummock Water and Buttermere below. Continue along the trail to the east, first reaching the summit of Crag Hill before turning to the southwest to traverse Wandope and Whiteless Pike. After enjoying the views from atop the final Wainwright, you will descend the hillside along Squat Beck, eventually making your way to the scenic shores of Crummock Water that will lead you back to the trailhead where you began your adventure.
