Seat Sandal and Stone Arthur Walk Description

The Seat Sandal and Stone Arthur Walk is a spectacular route in the Lake District that should be more popular than it is due to the breathtaking scenery and dramatic landscape. The trail sets out from the side of the A591 near the Dunmail Raise Cairn and climbs uphill to the east along the waters of Raise Beck until you arrive at the summit of Seat Sandal. Here, you will enjoy some amazing views of Ullscarf across the valley to the west and Helvellyn to the north. After taking in the sights, you will continue downhill to the east to make your way past the calm surface of Grisedale Tarn, before climbing up to the summit of both Fairfield and Cofa Pike. From the latter of these two peaks, you will retrace your steps and continue south along the ridgeline to summit Great Rigg and Stone Arthur, enjoying the final views from this elevated position before descending into the valley below to reach the end point of the walk.
