Getting there

To reach the trailhead for the High Wray Walk from Wray Castle, drive southwest for 0.3mi and turn left to continue on for 0.6mi. Make another left turn here, followed by an immediate left to continue on for another 0.2mi. Keep left for 0.7mi, and you will arrive at the trailhead.

High Wray Walk Description

The High Wray Walk is a popular route in the Lake District with beginner and casual walkers due to the beautifully scenic views over the water and family-friendly trail conditions. The trail sets out from the western shores of Windermere and follows the edge of the lake north towards Wray Castle. After exploring the Victorian-Era grounds of the estate, follow the trail west around Blelham Tarn before climbing uphill along the lower slopes of Latterbarrow. Here, you will be able to enjoy some wonderful Lake District views from an elevated position before descending the forested slopes on the return leg of the journey back to your vehicle.
