The walk through Duddon Valley is a picturesque Lake District adventure that will lead you through some of the undulating terrain that the region is known for. While out on the trail, you will follow closely along the winding banks of the River Duddon and trek through the tranquil Dunnerdale Forest at the foot of Harter Fell before crossing the river to traverse a stretch of open terrain on the way back to the trailhead. This walk is perfect to get out on the weekend with the family and explore the gorgeous English countryside.

Getting there

To reach the Duddon Valley trailhead from the village of Seathwaite, head east for 2.7mi and turn left to arrive at the car park.

Duddon Valley Walk Description

Walking the Duddon Valley Trail is a great excursion for anyone looking to experience some of the hilly terrain that the Lake District is known for, without taking on a more challenging route. The trail will see you head to the southwest to climb uphill through Dunnerdale Forest at the foot of Harter Fell before traversing the undulating terrain to the south. After descending the hillside and walking along the valley floor, you will pass through the charming village of Seathwaite and follow the trail to the northeast. Here, you will traverse an open stretch of farmland before meeting up with the winding banks of the Duddon River. Follow the river north to eventually return to the car park where you started.
