Blencathra via Blease Fell is a challenging walk in the Lake District that features steep terrain with breathtaking views of Keswick and the surrounding valley. While the terrain is initially difficult, it gradually becomes less steep towards the top of the ridge, where you will be able to walk along the rugged terrain with relative ease. As there is no scrambling on this route, it is a suitable trail for casual and seasoned walkers that are fit enough to handle the steep incline.

Blencathra via Blease Fell Description

Walking the Blencathra via Blease Fell Trail is a popular activity in the Keswick area, as it offers an alternate and less rocky alternative up to the summit of Blencathra. Although it may not require you to scramble, that doesn’t mean that the steep hillside isn’t difficult to climb. Setting out from the car park, the trail will immediately begin to climb up the steep incline of the hillside that leads up to the summit of Blease Hill. Once there, you will walk along the rugged ridgeline toward the summit of Blencathra, all while enjoying the stunning views of the surrounding Lake District landscape that is spread out before you in all directions. Once you are at the summit of Blencathra, you can extend your walk by continuing along the ridge, or simply turn back and keep to the left to carefully descend the hillside on the way back to the car park.
