Emily Murphy Park Trail Description
The Emily Murphy Park trail is located between Kinsmen and Hawrelak Parks, with connecting trails between them all. You will begin your route at the Emily Murphy statue. Emily Murphy was a prominent activist from Edmonton whom the park was named after. The park features picnic sites, a boat launch, and lots of green space.
Starting from the statue, follow signs to the Groat Bridge, staying left on the main trail. You will pass the public restrooms and a children’s play area before reaching the bridge. Take a right at the junction for the bridge, following the pedestrian path over the bridge to the other side of the river. Take in the incredible views down the river from the 3281ft long bridge.
After reaching the other side of the bridge, turn back, or create a small loop on the trail to return to the south side of the river at Emily Murphy Park. On your return, take a left turn at the end of the bridge to create your loop trail. The boat launch is under the bridge, where you will turn left to follow the river bank around the park.
Continue along the riverside to the park gates and signs before turning back and heading towards the Emily Murphy statue to finish the route.
