The Quarry Trail is a scenic hike through the beautiful wetlands of Minnekhada Regional Park that takes hikers to several vantage points, including High Knoll. This hike is a wonderful opportunity to reconnect with nature and see some of the amazing wildlife that can be found within the park. This marshy trail can be a bit wet, so don’t forget waterproof hiking boots!

Getting there

To reach the parking lot for the Quarry Trail from Coquitlam, drive north along Pinetree Way N, making a right turn onto David Avenue. Turn right again after 1.7mi to get onto Coast Meridian Road and a left turn onto Victoria Drive. Victoria Drive will veer to the left in 0.8mi. Keep on it for 1.7mi, making a right turn to reach the parking area.

Quarry Trail Description

The Quarry Trail is a 2.9mi loop around the marshes of Minnekhada Regional Park that takes hikers to two scenic lookouts at High Knoll and Low Knoll. Anyone looking to use the trail should note that it can become wet and muddy due to the proximity to the wetlands. As such, it is recommended to wear water-resistant/waterproof hiking footwear to ensure a comfortable hike along the trail. Additionally, Minnekhada Regional Park is home to numerous species of wildlife, including bears. Remember to bring bear spray to avoid any potentially dangerous encounters.

This scenic trail through the wetlands is a great way to get out and see some of the amazing wildlife that can be found within Minnekhada Regional Park. From the ducks and beavers that inhabit the marshy waters to the bears that frequent the area to feed on nearby berry bushes, this short trail has a lot to offer in the nature department. In addition to navigating the paths through the marsh, the Quarry Trail will also provide hikers with the opportunity to experience two scenic lookouts at High Knoll and Low Knoll, which offer beautiful sweeping views of the surrounding farmland, the Pitt River, and Pitt-Addington Marsh.
