The Broadway Tower Walk is a truly outstanding adventure that will take you uphill to visit a stone folly that was built for Lady Coventry at the tailend of the 1700s. The trail will see you climb uphill for the majority of its length, with the ultimate reward being a commanding sightline over England that encompasses 16 different counties on a clear day. Although it is a bit of a grind, the route is a great way to spend an afternoon exploring the picturesque terrain of The Cotswolds AONB.

Broadway Tower Walk Description

The wonderfully scenic views that can be found at the top of the Broadway Tower Trail make it a memorable experience that shouldn’t be skipped, despite the amount of uphill walking needed to get there. While the trail isn’t overly difficult, the tower is located at the second highest point of The Cotswolds, making it a steady grind uphill to reach it. Make sure to take your time and enjoy the breathtaking views that can be had throughout the walk. Portions of the route can become quite muddy and slick when wet, likely requiring good walking boots in order to safely traverse the trail.

Although it will take some effort to reach the top of the trail, you will absolutely not regret it once you begin to experience the stunning views overlooking the Cotswolds and neighbouring counties. Setting out from the village of Broadway, you will make your way east along High Street to eventually cross over the A44, at which point the uphill walking portion of the route will set in. After slogging your way uphill, you will arrive at the site of the 18th Century stone tower that was once used as a hilltop beacon. Take some time to appreciate the panoramic views that sweep across the English countryside in every direction before retracing your footsteps along the trail on the return to Broadway.
