The Mount Buckhorn and Seven Bridges Loop is an amazing adventure through the Colorado wilderness that exhibits the diversity and beauty of the area. Travel through forested river valleys, vibrant aspen groves, mixed pine forests, and up to exposed ridges that grant 360-degree panoramas. Note you will be hiking deep into nature, so it is important to be mindful of wildlife! Additionally, sections of this path are higher trafficked than others, so don’t be surprised if you must share the route!
Embark on your adventure along the Mount Buckhorn and Seven Bridges Loop from the High Drive Trailhead. From here, keep right and track the High Drive Trail into the woodlands. Traveling through mixed pine forests, you will eventually meet an intersection. Here, keep left and hike the Captain Jack’s Trail south. This path will guide you along the southern ridge of Mount Buckhorn. As you hike, you will be granted sights of the encompassing mountainous landscape through the tree breaks. At the next junction, take the middle path. The Upper Captain Jack’s 667 Trail will guide you west along a ridge before merging onto the Kineo Mountain Trail.
Follow the route around the north side of the mountain. Eventually, you will reach another intersection, keep left here, and you will be diverted onto the Seven Bridges North Spur Trail. Track this path south, turning left onto the Seven Bridges Trail at the next trail split. Hike the Seven Bridges Trail over seven bridges through the North Cheyenne Creek Canyon. Follow this path back to the trailhead.
