This wow-inducing trek through the regional park boasts sights of Pike’s Peak whilst looping through aspen groves, ponderosa pine forests, and meadowlands. This hike is a popular family-friendly nature walk, as it’s versatile, easy-going, and incredibly stunning. Especially busy on weekends and afternoons, this revered route is often busy. Open year-round, versatile, and unforgettably picturesque; this family favorite is a must-add to your Colorado Springs adventure list. Whether you are seeking a lunch break gateways or a weekend workout, the Fox Run Loop Trail delivers. Depending on the season, lace up a pair of hiking boots or strap on a pair of snowshoes before setting out. Embark on your journey along the Fox Run Loop Trail from the Roller Coaster Trailhead. From here, the circuit can be completed in either direction, but for clarity’s sake, we ventured clockwise. Departing from the trailhead, take the leftmost trail traveling southwest through mixed pine forests. Enjoy the sights of the towering ponderosas, and you will soon reach an intersection. Here, keep left, and the route will divert you west, leading you to the Fallen Timbers Trailhead.
At this point, take the leftmost trail, tracking south to Sprague and Aspen Lakes. Revel in the sights of the shimmering waters and continue trekking southwest along the perimeter of the park. This route will soon divert you north through aspen glades that reveal demanding vistas of Pike’s Peak in the west. As you travel further north, the woodlands will transform again into a mixed pine forest before curving northeast. The final segment of the route will lead wanderers through dense, sweet-smelling forestlands back to the trailhead.
